Dear all,

we are looking for more maintainers of individual Org Babel files.

Jack and Ian are already in, I added myself to ob-clojure.el.

If you feel like proposing yourself for maintaining an Org Babel
language, that would be super helpful.

Thanks a lot!

Is there a list of org babel files which need maintainers?

You can check the list of ob-* files here:

https://code.orgmode.org/bzg/org-mode/src/master/lisp

If there is no "Maintainer:" in the header, then the file could
benefit from having an individual maintainer.

This is needed to be able to commit to Org's core.

Can you fill this form and report to me when this is done?

I'm happy to take over ob-mscgen and also ob-dot.

I've not got an account on code.org-mode.org, yet. I've emailed Bastien directly with my preferred username and have sent the requisite copyright assignment forms to the relevant gnu email.

Let me know if there are other things to take on there.

Thanks!

  Dear Bastien, all

I would be very happy to:

  1) Include ob-julia.el At this moment this is in a separate git repo

  https://github.com/gjkerns/ob-julia

and is unmantained. I made some small changes myself, since this
outdated version does not work with current julia versions.

  2) Help with ob-fortran.el In fact I submitted a patch some time ago:

  https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-orgmode/2019-09/msg00268.html

That never made it to the org code.

The problem with all this is that I am a very poor elisp programmer. I
do not feel confident of being able to resolve all issues...

Please, let me know what you think... Maybe you think that it is
better to have someone trying to take care of this, even if maybe not
all issues are going to be resolved. Maybe you feel that it is better
to leave it as it is.

Please, let me know what you think.

Many thanks for the great work!

  A.

The version I use is in the org contrib directory. How does this differ
from the one you use? I believe the contrib one is slightly newer than
the github one you refer to.

Although I don't have the time to commit to being a maintainer for this,
I would be happy to test out any updates as I do use Julia a fair bit.

The file in contrib (and the github) still uses writecsv/readcsv for
reading an org table as input for other src blocks (this was gone in
julia 1+) . This is deprecated in favor of
  DelimitedFiles.readdlm/writedlm.

But I understand that these are small changes...

Maybe but it's always good to keep up with any changes in the language
with such a quickly evolving system. Luckily, I think Julia has
stabilised now.

I added yourself as the maintainer for ob-eshell.el (commit 1d105a429),
thanks.

My call for ob-* maintainers for Org's core, but of course it's useful
to call for maintainers for contrib/ packages too!

For now, I'd rather have one maintainer per file than several.

Contributions are always welcome, of course. If I don't have time to
maintain ob-clojure.el correctly next year, I'll ask for someone else.

I would like to help maintain ob-perl.

(My paperwork isn't completed yet; I do have the form and am working
with my employer.)

In fact the process isn't overr quite yet; thanks for reaching out.

I did exchange emails with the assignment clerk this past week and we are
not at any roadblocks afaict. I'll update again in not more than (a
fhanish/volunteers') three weeks, even if I have nothing interesting to
report. Does that sound right?

I appreciate your checking in on me!

While I of course can't speak for Bastien (and am not sure what this
thread involved behind the scenes here), it doesn't appear that anyone
volunteered for ob-sql. And regardless any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Fwiw here are a couple of the recent-ish ob-sql-related messages that
haven't seen any attention:

Hi Bastien,

I'm willing to volunteer to maintain ob-sqlite.el. I think like Andy, I
have some work to do to get up to speed on my elisp but I'm comfortable
enough with sqlite itself.

As far as I'm aware my copyright process has been finalized as well.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi,

I can volunteer to maintain ob-awk.el. I've signed my assignment
form with FSF, and returned it to them this evening. I'll let you
know when I'm official.

I have an account on code.orgmode.org already, but I think I only
have access to worg.

I may also be able to maintain ob-shell.el. It is a bit more
complex than ob-awk.el, so I'd like to hold off until I understand
a bit better how ob works in general.

Is there any documentation for ob other than the source code?

Best,

Tyler

Thanks! I've added you as the maintainer on ob-awk.el. Please don't
commit significant changes before the FSF papers are processed.

You have now commit access to org-mode.git too.

Sure.

There is also https://orgmode.org/worg/org-contrib/babel/ and the
manual but I cannot think of something else.
