Hi,
How can i specify the left/right margin sizes for the resulting
*.pdf documents (org-export-as-pdf) in a *.org file.

Adding the following lines to my *.org file solved the issue.
#+LATEX_HEADER: \addtolength{\textwidth}{2in}
#+LATEX_HEADER: \addtolength{\hoffset}{-1in}
#+LATEX_HEADER: \addtolength{\voffset}{-1in}

Take a look at the "geometry" package:
ftp://ftp.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/geometry/geometry.pdf
For example:
