Yup, its what i use to make sure my journal entries appear in my agenda,
the snipped from org-capture-templates is
("j" "Journal" entry
(file+datetree "journal.org")
"* %?\n :PROPERTIES:\n :DateCreated: %T\n :END:\n%i\n%a")
very handy.
