Looks okay to me.  Are you sure your org directory is clean?  What does
`git status' and `git describe' say in your org directory?

Open source is the future. It sets us free.

(Sorry for the delay in responding.  I was called away from town on a family matter over the weekend.  I VERY MUCH appreciate all the help)

Here is 'git status' and 'git describe'

jlb@debian64tu01:~/emacs/lisp/org-mode$ git status
# On branch master
nothing to commit (working directory clean)
jlb@debian64tu01:~/emacs/lisp/org-mode$ git describe
release_8.0-pre-54-gb5a8538

I've also tried to *not* escaping the curly braces as Eric suggested, but that resulted in no change in my output.

I have essentially performed steps 1 and 3, as Feng shu suggested:

I have not yet tried removing the org directory in /use/share/******/org (step 2).  I'll try that next...
But so that I understand, if the files are not hidden by that directory (as shown by 'list-load-path-shadows'), I would also not expect any impact from them (unless of course there is still something in my installation that is fouled up).  Is that correct?

Thanks again,
Jerry
