I finally figured out the following initialization code for orgmode
based on your above wonderful notes:

(add-to-list 'load-path "~/Public/repo/code.orgmode.org/bzg/org-mode.git/lisp")
(add-to-list 'load-path
"~/Public/repo/code.orgmode.org/bzg/org-mode.git/contrib/lisp" t)
(require 'org)
