Emacs opens a frame for each file in agenda list on org-mobile-push

Hello list.

I have a small problem in that when I org-mobile-push for each file in 
org-agenda-files a new Emacs frame opens.

Otherwise everything else works just fine.

I'm running:

Org-mode version 6.33c

under

GNU Emacs 23.1.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)


At this point I need to mention that I am no Emacs wizard. It has taken 
a while for me to get mobile-org etc. to sync correctly. My elisp-fu is 
minimal - I rely on cut and paste mostly to get anything done, so please 
keep answers simple ;-)

Having said that I am very willing to dig in to this to find the problem 
as I enjoy learning where my mistakes come from.

If someone can give me a pointer or two I would be very grateful.

That does seem odd.  Could you maybe do a M-x org-submit-bug-report, and if
you aren't doing email in Emacs, copy and paste the output (with your
org-mode configuration, it will prompt you to include it) into an email to
emacs-orgmode@gnu.org?

I'm running Emacs 23 on Windows, and using MobileOrg, and I haven't seen
that problem.  But we might have a start on it if you could send along your
configuration and customizations per the above.

This one seems strange enough that maybe it might even be worthwhile to send
along the .emacs file, just in case (properly sanitized for personal info,
of course).

Good morning Charles,

here's the bug reported as promised.

I run Emacs from a pendrive on a Windows XP Pro box. My site-start.el 
contains the following to map home to <drive letter>:home on Emacs 
start. The first line has no line break after the defvar so there are 
only two lines of code.

Otherwise the Emacs is 'vanilla' - I use it for writing and not coding 
so I try to keep things simple ;-)

If you need anything else please let me know.

"DELETED", all punctuation etc. will remain 'as is'.

Hi Steve,

I have no idea why this might be happening.  I know that AquaEmacs on  
the Mac
has a default setting that will visit any new files in a new frame -  
maybe you Windows Emacs has a similar setting.  But I don't know how  
to help you find it.

Thank you, I appreciate the quick answer very much.

I can't find any setting that may change this either. I've minimised the 
number of org files that I use so it's tolerable for now.

If I manage to resolve this I'll come back to this thread and let you 
know ;-)

Just a quick follow up to my own post.

The only thing I *hadn't* done was to revert to 22.3, so I tried that 
this lunchtime, et voila - no more spurious frames/instances.

Hello,

Ran into this strange "condition" myself on Emacs 23/Win 7 and latest
org-mode (6.35f).

Found the solution (i think) and decided to share although the thread is old:

org-mobile tries to calculate checksums but is unable to find a
program for it. Since the executable name is empty windows thinks we
want to open the file.

I downloaded and copied md5sums.exe to a folder in my path and now it
seems to work. org-mobile only looks for md5sum (without an s) though
so i had to rename the exe.

thanks for this - I am now throwing an error if there is
now binary to compute the checksums.
About the name, you can also customize the option
org-mobile-checksum-binary and set the correct name there.
