That works as does the attempt on my home computer. I was at work earlier. I'm truly perplexed as from memory I just cannot think of anything different between the home and work .emacs files that would do this. I want to go back and look at the load languages section from the work one, though, as I got the same error at home prior to adding that section. I'm wondering if I have a typo somewhere (though I did copy and paste what's below so just not sure!).
Hi John,
Yes the following should be sufficient
What happens if you try to evaluate the following in an Org-mode buffer
;; setup ditaa
(setq org-ditaa-jar-path "~/.elisp/org.git/contrib/scripts/ditaa.jar")
(org-babel-do-load-languages
'org-babel-load-languages
'((ditaa . t)
(gnuplot . t)))
with C-c C-c?
#+begin_src ditaa :file example.png
+---------------+

ditaa example

+---------------+
#+end_src
