7.5 correctly exports the  \footnote latex commands when exporting to beamer, version 7.8 escapes the
{} resulting in a the { being in the footnote text instead intended
text.  I have attached a simple test case, the correct output and the
failed out put.

I can confirm the problem. Though, out of curiosity, why don't you use
built-in footnotes instead?
