Yes the following should be sufficient

;; setup ditaa
(setq org-ditaa-jar-path "~/.elisp/org.git/contrib/scripts/ditaa.jar")
(org-babel-do-load-languages
 'org-babel-load-languages
 '((ditaa . t)
   (gnuplot . t)))


What happens if you try to evaluate the following in an Org-mode buffer
with C-c C-c?

#+begin_src ditaa :file example.png
  +---------------+
  |               |
  | ditaa example |
  |               |
  +---------------+
#+end_src
