Why make it so hard? Just use the facilities built into Emacs, namely
init.el and package.el and put something like this in your init.

'(auctex ess
company
js2-mode
magit
nyan-mode
pdf-tools
paredit
visual-regexp))
(package-initialize)
(when (fboundp 'package-install-selected-packages) ; Emacs-v25
(package-install-selected-packages))
