Subject: Speed up adding footnotes?

I'm converting a website into org-mode, then latex, and finally a pdf file.

But I'm having problems adding articles in the middle of the main page, specifically adding footnotes. At its longest period it took almost 3 minutes to add one footnote!

(To insert a footnote I'm using this key sequence, 'C-c C-x f'.)

So, is it possible to speed up the process please?

Thanks
  Sharon Kimble.
