Correct.

Why is that? Because \verb reminds =3Dverbatim=3D? Really, both "code" and
"verbatim" syntax produces verbatim contents. Therefore both are
eligible for "\verb".

Anyway, you can customize `org-latex-text-markup-alist' to your liking.
