After some discussion on the subject on another topic (see https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-orgmode/2022-03/msg00233.html), I have a small patch that prevents the prompt for disappearing on unwanted events, using `read-char-exclusive'. You will find it enclosed.
