In Org, we also have a great system for creating LaTeX > documents templates, which is the org-latex-classes list. From broader perspective, we can have a generic template library. ox.el currently allows export backends to define document template as a function, which is the most generic way. However, we can come up with something more customizable - customizable in a consistent way, in contrast to the current disarray with various export backends approaching the boilerplate code differently. TEC is working on something along these lines. See https://tecosaur.github.= io/emacs-config/config.html#cleverer-preamble Note that we also have inner templates that apply to individual exported elements. Best, Ihor
