It is actually not quite as bad is it sounds.
- C-u is the generic "do it differently prefix"
- C-c C-x C-i is the usual start the clock in org. Unfortunately org
has so many commands, that it is probably hard to find a two key
sequence.
At that point a menu pops up, and you choose i.
