Makes sense.
Do I understand correctly the named columns where not allowed at all in
the left side of the formulas previously?

Please, document this in the new as well.

lhs is not a commonly known abbreviation.
Also, may you document the priority of named columns in 3.5.10 Advanced
features section of the manual?
