Thank you for the tip. But instead of adding precisely what you suggested, I have added =E2=80=9C:group 'org-expiry=E2=80=9D. The warning = is gone and the option does show up when I invoke customize-group and type =E2=80=9Corg-expiry=E2=80=9D. I have run some other minimal tests and it s= eems to be working.
