What about

(defun org-clock-in-recent ()
"Clock in a recently clocked task."
  (interactive)
  (org-clock-in '(4)))

(global-set-key (kbd "C-<f11>") #'org-clock-in-recent)

?

Thanks Marcin, indeed it worked as expected.

BTW, I seldom use C-c C-x <tab> - I prefer C-c C-x C-i.

Do  "C-c C-x <tab>" and "C-c C-x C-i" call the same command? My system doesn't seem to distinguish the two. How could I distinguish them and why should I prefer one instead of the other?

Also, you might want to read this: http://mbork.pl/2013-05-25_Clocking_in_from_anywhere_%28en%29

Thanks, interesting. Apparently org-clock-in-recent seems to work already from anywhere.
