I just pulled:

  Org-mode version 6.29trans (release_6.29c.44.ga32e)
  GNU Emacs 23.1.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.9) of 2009-08-09 on gamaville.dokosmarshall.org
  Linux alphaville.usa.hp.com 2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP Fri Jul 24 22:46:06 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

and org-remember does not exhibit any slowness for me.
