Hi everyone,

as was already pointed out here by others, I will be a guest
at FLOSS weekly on September 22. The show will be recorded
from 9:30am to 11:00am Pacific Time, which corresponds to
18:30-20:00 here in central Europe.

1. Watching live

You can watch the show live at http://live.twit.tv

2. Chatroom

There is a chatroom for TWIT shows at going on irc.twit.tv
channel #twitlive

This might be a lot of fun if the right people are there.
Also during the show, Randal will likely
watch the channel and might take suggestions or questions
from there.

3 Postcast
~~~~~~~~~~~
The show will be posted as a podcast (video and audio
versions) in the FLOSS weekly feeds.
If you have suggestions on something specific I should try to cover,
let me know.
Cheers
- Carsten
So what are you going to say when Randall asks you if you are a Vi or
Emacs user:)
For those that haven't listened to FOSS weekly before, Randall asks
everyone this question.
Ian.
Not sure how I'd watch it if I were on my gnu box though.
I just went to
  http://twit.tv/floss
and clicked on the "Download Video (High)" button. I tried the "Play Video"
button but that crashed my browser (Firefox 3.0.19 with all the relevant plugins).
I right clicked and saved the link and it worked great. Maybe just download
it?
Just a thought.
Just to clarify: The "Download Video (High)" method worked fine; I was
able to watch it in the browser.
You can downoad the video (hi res) from
http://twit.cachefly.net/video/floss/floss0136/floss0136_h264b_864x480_500.mp4
and the audio from
http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/twit.cachefly.net/floss0136.mp3
Note that FLOSS always releases things as both video and mp3 only files.
I just watched the video, and I must say that Carsten has given
another excellent performance!
I think the key point he made through the whole interview was that
normally note taking tools are separate from planning / organizational
tools, and that Org-mode combines both!
Thanks for the video!
I hope to contribute to the screencast effort in the next few weeks.
I wanted to mention how great it would be to have an org-mode
conference. I know I can't commit to organizing anything, since time
and money are both far scarcer than I'd like. But I could see
attending something on the East Coast (U.S.).
I imagine the key would be having presentations by a few developers
and users, explaining their workflows and maybe presenting some
example work?
We can do all these things distributed, and online, through Worg right
now. But there's something inherently geeky and communal about a live
conference, even if they're rather expensive by comparison.
I agree.
If many people support this idea, this is how we could do it:
1. list ideas of things we would do there
2. find out what would be the best location/date
3. figure out how much money does it requires
4. decide (or not) to go for it
5. raise money through donations and grants (e.g. from the FSF)
I added http://orgmode.org/worg/org-conference.php
Go crazy :)
Note that Carsten mentionned this on his Google Tech Talk:
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJTwQvgfgMM  (5'20")
As I found this idea so powerful, I quoted Carsten about this in my
small video for the SourceForge Award last year:
Meet and talk about org-mode :-)
> 2. find out what would be the best location/date
We could probably get a developer room at next years FOSDEM[1]. They
provide rooms where projects can organize their own schedule, made of
presentations, brainstorming and hacking sessions. You have to apply[2]
for such a developer room as they always receive more requests than
they can host.
Also of course Carsten would make for a good main track speaker[3].
> 3. figure out how much money does it requires
I don't know the details but I could imagine that this would not require
any money.
> 4. decide (or not) to go for it
Write the application and see if they'll give you a room :-). If there
is a room I'll come and do a presentation :-).
Thanks
Yep. Very crucial.
Searching well, the only one thing I could find that could have been added is:
easy support of slides creation (thanks to org-beamer). I find this a very
sexy application. Another extra...
Apart from that, very good overview of all the features currently known...
Best regards,
Yes, important omission.  Also clocking.  I have gotten into a
bit more serious clocking during the last week - works better
than I realised....
Brussels?  This is close enough that I would come if this goes ahead.
Or maybe Eric Schulte about babel.  But I don't know if Eric would
come all the way from the states....
So - who will take the lead and write the application?  We'd
have to act soon.  Can we also have a show of hands how many people
would seriously consider to come to such a meeting?
