If there's no need to exclude opening parenthesis, I suggest to use

  "\\([[:punct:][:space:]]\\|$\\)"

instead of

  "\\(\\s.\\|\\s-\\|\\s(\\|\\s)\\|\\s\"\\|$\\)"

It is shorter and clearer.
