My favorite method of getting word frequencies from text files is the
following.  Sometimes it is easier to just Org-mode files as text files
rather than to use e-lisp.

    # -*- shell-script -*-
    many=20 # to print the 20 most popular words
    cat org-file.org \
        |tr -cs A-Za-z '\n' \
        |tr A-Z a-z \
        |sort \
        |uniq -c \
        |sort -rn \
        |sed ${many}q \
        |sed 's/^ *//' \
        |sed 's/\([^ ]*\) \([^ ]*\)/\2:\1/' \
        |tr '\n' ' ' \
        |sed 's/ $/\n/'
