Yep; as I mentioned in <87k0umjn74.fsf@gmail.com>, I didn't know about org-adapt-indentation when I wrote this NEWS entry. If I had, I would have - mentioned this variable in the NEWS entry, and/or - campaigned for a change to the default value.
