I can't think of a better way of putting it, sorry!] with "Imenu" so it is easy to go back to a specific day. But I have found that I can't have more that 3 months worth of postings in a buffer, without things slowing down and seeming to get slightly corrupted. So at the end of every quarter, I transfer postings over from "2014a.org" to "2014.org", which isn't very often used or accessed, but its available if its needed.
