I suggest you install latest Org release by

1. downloading http://orgmode.org/org-latest.zip
2. unzipping the file
3. cd org-mode/
3. make autoloads

Then add this to your .emacs.el file :

;; Adapt the directory path if needed
(add-to-list 'load-path "~/org-mode/")

This way you will enjoy a recent version without compromising
the stability of your distribution, and you'll be able to check
if the issues you reported are still there.
