I know I'm coming late to this thread [1] but I thought I would mention
that one way to figure out what packages to add to your Debian/Ubuntu
system is to use apt-cache:

| texlive-fonts-recommended - TeX Live: Recommended fonts
| ttf-marvosym - Symbol font for school and office
| $ apt-cache search wasysym
| texlive-fonts-recommended - TeX Live: Recommended fonts
