I cannot reproduce this with
Org-mode version 7.9.2 (release_7.9.2-577-gb0a051 @ /home/nick/elisp/org-mode/lisp/)
and it sounds as if something is really broken in your setup (e.g. C-c C-d is
bound to something strange).
