I cannot reproduce:
Org version 7.01trans , commit	9ec705cb57b77595dd9aeb17f9168fb1db9ac908.


Sample file:

:COLUMNS: %25ITEM(Number) 
:END:
** one
:PROPERTIES:
:Value: 100
:Age: 11
:END: 
** two
:PROPERTIES:
:Value: 200
:Age: 22
:END: 
-------------

1.  C-c C-x C-c  shows the column view with the "Number column"
2.  M-S-<right>  asks for the property of the new column
2.1        write "Age" (without " ")
3.  You'll have a two columns column view
