We basically have the inverse of Loris Bennett's problem now: the remote case works,
but the local case is broken. Presumably, process-file should not be used in the local
case, but Michael will know better.

Try C-c C-c on the following two code blocks (``lefou'' is a remote machine in my case: replace
with one appropriate to your environment):
