Hi

I am having problems on 2 different machines trying to integrate org mode
and remember. I am running
GNU Emacs 22.2.50.1 (i386-apple-darwin9.4.0, Carbon Version 1.6.0) on a
10.5.4 Leopard Mac
org-6.06b is in the directory below, and remember-2.0 as well.
My .emacs is here:

------------
(add-to-list 'load-path
"/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/lisp/org-6.06b/lisp/")
(add-to-list 'load-path
"/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/lisp/remember-2.0/")

(require 'org)
(require 'remember)
;;(require 'org-annotate-file)

(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\.org$" . org-mode))

(define-key global-map "\C-cl" 'org-store-link)
(define-key global-map "\C-ca" 'org-agenda)

(setq org-log-done t)
(setq org-directory "~/orgfiles/")
(setq org-default-notes-file "~/.notes")

(setq remember-annotation-functions '(org-remember-annotation))
(setq remember-handler-functions '(org-remember-handler))
(add-hook 'remember-mode-hook 'org-remember-apply-template)
(define-key global-map "\C-cr" 'org-remember)

(setq org-remember-templates
    '(("Todo" ?t "* TODO %? %^g\n %i\n " "F:/GTD/newgtd.org" "Office")
     ("Journal" ?j "\n* %^{topic} %T \n%i%?\n" "L:journal.org")
     ("Book" ?b "\n* %^{Book Title} %t :READING: \n%[l:/booktemp.txt]\n"
             "L:journal.org")
     ("Private" ?p "\n* %^{topic} %T \n%i%?\n" "F:/gtd/privnotes.org")
     ("Contact" ?c "\n* %^{Name} :CONTACT:\n%[l:/contemp.txt]\n"
              "F:/gtd/privnotes.org")
     ))

(setq org-annotate-file-storage-file "~/annotated.org")

(setq org-annotate-file-add-search t)
(custom-set-variables
;; custom-set-variables was added by Custom.
;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful.
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
;; If there is more than one, they won't work right.
 '(cua-mode t nil (cua-base))
 '(show-paren-mode t)
 '(text-mode-hook (quote (turn-on-auto-fill text-mode-hook-identify)))
 '(transient-mark-mode t))
(custom-set-faces
;; custom-set-faces was added by Custom.
;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful.
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
;; If there is more than one, they won't work right.
 )
---------------------
(This is pretty much the setup shown in Charles Cave's nice tutorial)

Org mode works fine, but when I try to Ctrl-C r, I get the following error:

...run-hook-with-args-until-success: Autoloading failed to define function
org-remember-annotation

Also in my main org file, M-x org-remember gives:

Autoloading failed to define function org-remember

There was a post with relatively similar unresolved problems on this list
back in April 08 as well...

Any ideas / suggestions?

Thanks!

Charles Snyder

I understand from manual and previous discussion, that if you use
distribution from the Web and not within Emacs, that you then
must build org-install.el and write

(require 'org-install)

and that in fact (require 'org) is never used in init file?

I repeat bug with (require 'org), but not with (require 'org-install)
