This sounds suspiciously like something that Seb ran into a few weeks ago:

but I'm not sure how that was resolved.

FWIW, I cannot reproduce it:

GNU Emacs 23.2.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.14.4) of 2010-10-27 on gamaville.dokosmarshall.org
Org-mode version 7.4 (release_7.4.5.gb0844.dirty)
