We already have the exact same mechanism in place. The problem is that flyspell-mode places the overlays *before* org sees that this is a link. There, a mechanism is needed to actively strip flyspell overlays in places where this is appropriate. Muse-mode had this, and so do we now. Thanks. - Carsten
