I attach the log. > > Thanks in advance. I believe the export of that document is dependent on the authors emacs setup. It seems the abstract block before the first headline is the main culprit. Try commenting it out and trying again. A few usepackage directives also seem to be missing. On top of that I see the original author intended to export with xelatex whereas you are using pdflatex.
