Thanks for making me pause. I probably would have thought "I'll do that tomorrow" and "tomorrow" would have never come. Now I've done it now. Maintaining a popular software component takes a huge amount of work. I know that. It's certainly not more important, I agree. It is, however, much more stressful. Especially to be a mediator in difficult conversations, the stress of packaging something incorrectly, getting things out on time and complete. It's not easy. Writing code isn't easy either, but I've always found it far far less stressful than overseeing an entire system. I'd be more than happy to donate money to others that have made such huge contributions of personal time toward a system that has truly turned my life around in the last few years.
